First, We meet with you and hear all about your vegetable garden hopes and fears.
We assess the area in your landscape where you envision your vegetable garden being and discuss the pros and cons of this site.
Then we make a plan with you. We talk about your budget, the amount of time you have to devote to learning about gardening, and what kind of vegetables you love to eat and would like to grow.
We draw up the costs to create your vegetable garden from building the beds, filling them with soil, to planting them with seeds and starts. We show you which varieties thrive in our unique maritime climate and which ones to avoid. We teach you simple and inexpensive methods to extend the growing season and to protect your garden from weather, birds and animals. We will also work up a schedule of tasks you will need to do to keep your garden growing through the season.

RAISED VEGGIE BEDS
One garden bed 4 x 8 = $300
We build permanent raised beds from both wood and modular masonry blocks. The standard size is 4ft x 8ft.includes: wooden bed, soil, fertilizer
Smaller 4ft x 4ft beds are also an option. A vertical trellis along the north side of the bed for trailing and vining crops saves valuable garden space . Also, small cloches and screens can be moved through the garden as successive crops are planted, extending the growing season by several weeks.

PLANTING
We provide seed and transplants. We plant the Spring, Summer or Fall Garden for $90.
At current market prices based on PCC organic vegetables this amount of produce would cost $600

HARVEST / MAINTENANCE
These examples provide enough fresh produce for salads and most dishes but does not provide enough excess for canning or freezing.
One 4 x 8 Bed will feed 1 person and requires 1.5hrs per week maintenance
Two 4 x 8 Beds will feed 2 people and requires 2hrs per week maintenance
Three 4 x 8 Beds will feed 3 people and requires 3hrs per week maintenance
Four 4 x 8 Beds will feed 4 people and requires 4hrs per week maintenance
